G+Shame

 G+Shame

The exact date when the ELECTRO/TECHNO band G+Shame was formed cannot be established with certainty. It is supposed that they began their work in the year 2000 in Belgrade. The band was formed by its current members, Goran Alavuk and Bojan Gajic. They have never changed members during this time. Since the year 2000, the members of the band have tried to enrich the music scene in Serbia and Montenegro through a unique performance, which is still one of their characteristics, through a specific contact with the audience, naturally, only through their music! At the very beginning, they have had large performances, which surprised the members very much. Afterwards there came a halt in the performances, but not in improving their production. In the years which were marked by various political disputes, poverty and hunger, G+Shame kept their dignity and consistency with what they had started. That was the time when they started using the proverb never say never. And the proverb came true. The pair of equals got their own radio show called OET (Basics of Electro Technics), a very popular show which concentrated on presenting both known and unknown DJs, newcomers in the electronic scene of Serbia and Montenegro, but also on promoting original works of people who had been working with this type of music for a shorter or longer period of time. The radio show was broadcasted for two and a half years, and it managed to encourage many people who, seeing the two young enthusiasts, had formed their own shows, and just continued the tradition of good radio shows, making the scene richer in that way. Now everyone knows that something is happening in our surroundings, that this is not only music for drug addicts, but something far more important than that, the music of the new ELECTRO/TECHNO generation. When the changes came to the radio management, the duo gave up their place to some new, younger forces, which, unfortunately, continued in the opposite direction. But this is not the time nor the place for deeper analysis. After the show had stopped broadcasting, G+Shame started to work more seriously on promoting their original work. The bands performance consists of presenting their original tunes through a mix of a DJ set and performing (creating) music on the spot. During the performance, they use Roland mc505, Yamaha RM1x, Kaoss pad, two mixers (depending on the conditions in the club), two midi keyboards, a computer, and on occasions a microphone plus DJ setup (DJ mixer and two Technics 1210). With this kind of equipment, the live act performance is quite unique in our surroundings. Music is being created on the spot in the interaction with the audience, following their reactions, but at the same time not flattering the consumers of this type of music.
