Synesthesia

SYNESTHESIA

SYNESTHESIA is an experimental/industrial music project from Osijek, Croatia formed in late 2007 by two close friends.

Ever since, the two band members were always orientated towards electronic/EBM/electro/industrial music and favored bands like Front Line Assembly, Leaetherstrip, Nine Inch Nails, The Art of Noise, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Cabaret Voltaire, Soft Cell, OMD, Yazoo, Gary Numan, etc... generally, the entire 80's electronic music scene, more or less. Thus finding their inspiration and motives for starting project of their own where they could express themselves in various styles of electronic music.

The project started with no particular goal whatsoever, just to express ourselves through music we make, and to give the "city" we live in our personal mark. If anything should happen beyond mentioned above, so be it!

In the future, we are aiming to develop our personal "sound watermark", and to be resembled as ourselves - SYNESTHESIA , bypassing "sounds from the past" with sound styles of nowadays using our music orientation and favored bands as guidelines/inspiration only. Our sound is going to gradually develop towards better produced, better quality, and generally towards some ambiental/electro/EBM/industrial direction (eg. catchy basslines, vocoder voices, sampled sounds of machines/effects, stronger beats/drums, more voluminous material). We generally think that there is not much revolutional to offer in music today - all is done long ago.

And at last ... about origin(s) of our project name and reason we choose it:

"syn-es-the-sia n. Physiol. Sensation produced at a point other than or remote from the point of stimulation, as of a color from hearing a certain sound (fr. Gk, syn = together + aisthesis = to perceive)."

or

"Synesthesia is an involuntary joining in which the real information of one sense is accompanied by a perception in another sense. In addition to being involuntary, this additional perception is regarded by the synesthete as real, often outside the body, instead of imagined in the mind's eye. It also has some other interesting features that clearly separate it from artistic fancy or purple prose. Its reality and vividness are what make synesthesia so interesting in its violation of conventional perception. Synesthesia is also fascinating because logically it should not be a product of the human brain, where the evolutionary trend has been for increasing separation of function anatomically."
